how to use it

Make your calendar 4X more powerful using TimeTackle Tag

Step 1

Add tags on the TimeTackle web app

Sign into TimeTackle web app with your Google account. From the left click on Tags. Then from the dropdown menu, select Tag Type. You have three options – Label, Text, and Options. To give a broad name to your events, choose the Label option, and click on the Tag key button below to type in the event name, for example, DailyMeeting. If you want to add more values to your label, you can do so by clicking on the Options.

Step 2

Add tags to your Google Calendar events

Go to your Google Calendar and create a calendar event. Scroll down to find the option of Add Tags. When you click on it, all the Labels and options you had created on the TimeTackle web app will appear in a dropdown menu. When doing for the 1st time, you will be asked to log into TimeTackle when you click on “Add Tags”.

Step 3

Install the TimeTackle Tag Chrome extension

On the same page where you have created the tags on the TimeTackle web app, you will see on the top bar a message that says you need to install the chrome extension for this feature. Click on where Chrome Extension is highlighted and it will take you to the chrome web store. Click on the Add to Chrome button and it will be downloaded and run automatically in the background.

Step 4

Edit and add tags to events

Choose the labels and options that are suitable for your event and click on the + sign beside each to add them to your calendar. Then click on the Save button.

There’s a button to trash any added tag should you want to delete any.

Step 5

Export your calendar

Go to the Exporter page and choose one or more calendars that you want to export. Remember to set a date range for your calendar(s), check the Export tags box, and any other options that you would like to see in your calendar. Now click on the Preview and Download Export button. The downloaded file will show you the report with all the tags.

Step 6

Analytics your calendar

Besides exporting, you can also analyze data in your calendar by using the Analytics option from the menu. This tool captures the calendar info and categorizes them through the tags. Therefore, you can see the charts of calendar events and activities according to the tags assigned.

How can it help?

01

Customization

An ordinary calendar or even your Google calendar doesn’t offer you the extent of customization that you may wish for. You can color-code your events to differentiate them but when you want to add more info, you have no choice but to resort to writing a description. Moreover, the event titles and descriptions can’t be extracted. TimeTackle’s calendar tag feature allows a great deal of customization as you can add more information without being wordy. Moreover, the text option allows you to write notes or points so you’re not necessarily limited to your pre-defined labels and options. Such info can be easily extracted by TimeTackle Exporter. The result: key information presented in easily digestible nuggets.

04

Analysis

Using the Calendar Tag feature has another benefit that is directly related to the Analytics tool on TimeTackle Exporter. When you choose calendars with tags and press on the Analytics tool, it will pick up these tags and present bar charts and pie charts using the categories and labels. These pictorial representations make it easy for you to analyze the events from your calendar.

02

Overview or details

After you export your calendar through TimeTackle, the spreadsheet shows you an overview of tasks neatly organized under specific labels like departments, job types, etc. You can choose to share as little or as many details as you want to with your teammates or supervisor. While your supervisor may not be interested in the nitty-gritty, you may want to use these with your teammates to show their areas of improvement.

03

Calculation

When you see all the labels, texts, and options in the downloaded spreadsheet, you can do time and cost calculations based on the values. For example, you can see for which activity how much time was spent or which client meeting incurred a commuting cost. You can do any type of analysis you want.

05

Privacy

When you add the tags on your Google calendar, these get added to the description box in an encrypted format so that only you can decipher it when you put it on your TimeTackle Exporter. Your Google Calendar may be on a shared mode but it could be that you don’t want others to see detailed information
